Nordic Game Jam 2012 Presents: The Logo Shop

You know that feeling in your stomach when your Game Jam Game finally comes together? When it gets a higher state of meaning just minutes before the final deadline when you’re high on cold coffee and lack of sleep? Yet your heart tells you that something is wrong… The Comic Sans that you’ve chosen for your game logo just doesn’t summarise the otherwise epic nature of your game.

Don’t worry, help is here. Nordic Game Jam presents The Logo Shop, the shop that makes awesome game logos for YOU! For FREE! Whether you’re looking for a logo for your ‘Barbie: Undead Nightmare’ game or the title just won’t work for you unless the letters are cut out of flaming ice, The Logo Shop is the place to go to.

The concept is simple: You come up with an awesome title for your game and The Logo Shop makes it look fantastic!

The Logo shop is a one man enterprise whose proud owner, Thomas Ryder, is a fanatic fontoholic and a vector curve wunderkind. Thomas claims to be the son of Helvetica, and is one of the few people in the world who laughs when someone tells a typography joke. He’s like a horse whisperer. But with fonts.

So get in line for a little logo love. No game is too small; no title is too weird.

How to jam!

Why go to a Game Jam?

Game Jams are about the development of small game prototypes as well as the chance to try out new and exciting ideas. They are also a great source of inspiration!

Another good thing about going to a Game Jam is meeting other people with the same interest as you: People developing games.

You will have a chance to make games that are different, weird, crazy, and funny. Take for example  Man Enough, One player playing four games, or Resonance, a game that uses music as the key ingredient for solving puzzles.

In this post we’ll try to sum up what happens at a game jam and give a few hints on how to survive. We’re not going to focus on how to actually create the game. Continue reading ‘How to jam!’
