What is Nordic Game Jam?
Nordic Game Jam is a space where talented individuals, professionals, hobbyists and the new generation of game developers meet on common ground and work together in a fun and intense atmosphere of creativity and experimentation. The Nordic Game Jam is more like an “idea space” rather than competition, where participants can challenge their skills and ideas. Every year the Nordic Game Jam participants are given a new set of rules and constraints that they work on – and it is amazing to see how diverse and unique the games turn out be.
But why participate in a game jam?
And why go through 48 hours of: very little sleep, hard work, great ideas, crunching, problem solving & technical issues? Because a game jam encourages innovation and experimentation. It is one of the vehicles behind the new generation of game developers that can experiment with platforms and game ideas in an intense and yet still informal atmosphere. This is the space where the new generation of talents can be found.
If you urge to create a game, collaborate and meet other game developers – then Nordic Game Jam is the perfect place for you. As a participant at the Nordic Game Jam you will be part of a global event of creativity and fun.
About Nordic Game Jam 2012
The Nordic Game Jam 2012 will follow the same format like previous years, as an event where students, hobbyists and professional game developers, meet up for a weekend to develop and experiment with new and innovative game ideas.
The event is non-profit and it is organized by the Danish chapter of International Game Developer’s Association and the Center for Games Research at the IT-University.
The Nordic Game Jam is part of the Global Game Jam. This means that there will be game jams all over the world taking place in the same time slot of 48 hours. All participants in the Global Game Jam including the Nordic Game Jam are constrained by the same rules and limitations, with each time zone having one distinct constraint.
The Global Game Jam starts at 6:00PM Friday, January 27, 2010 through 3:00PM Sunday, January 29, 2010, (all times local).
