Boardgames! The foundation of computer games!
Now is your chance to create your own game during the NGJ 2011! Come and feel the power and freedom of game design (and execution) in its purest form.
The board game track is open to everyone with a passion or just an curiosity in creating an analogue game. No computer skills required!
Practical Info
We have tried to keep the framework of the Board Game Track VERY light in order for people to feel that they can come up with anything.
The rules
- Each group can produce one board game. This entails both all the physical objects and the rule-set needed to play the game.
- The board game and rules should be in English.
- The min. people in each group are two, so you have to find at least one wingman at Nordic Game Jam. There are no restrictions on team size, but 2-4 is a good number.
- A max. 10 min presentation must be made along with the game, to present it to the jury on Sunday.
Group-creation
Everybody gets a name-tag, where they also have to write their favorite board game on. This will start the discussion and matchmaking on Friday.
The Dump
In order to make a good physical prototype of your board game, we will create The Dump on ITU. The Dump is where we store scissors, tape, crates, flamenco and other junk for board game prototyping.
LEGO will provide us with their cool customizable LEGO-Dice and the board game distributor Enigma will provide trashed board games, where the participants can feel like grave robbers and steal dices, cardboard, pieces and other great junk for prototyping.
Prize and Awards
Two board games will be awarded – The Jury Award and The Audience Award. The jury will find one and the audience will vote for the other after the presentation on Sunday. This can be the same game. The Prize is a secret so far.
